To clarify the "no witnesses" comment, I was thinking loan docs, i.e. DOTs, other Deeds, etc. The issue only seems to come up when I get packages from Florida. With GNW or Trust work, I've never come across a situation where there was any expectation that the notary would be the one to find witnesses.
You're probably right about the $50 fee not flying in most other places, but I suspect there are many pockets around the country where similar fees could be achieved. Everyone is likely to set their witness fees proportional to what they charge for their own services, and I have no doubt ananotary does the same thing.
