I wasn't thinking about safety in terms of being robbed, but rather arriving at people's homes after dark, the opportunities for slips and falls, tripping on things like toys, scooters, bicycles laying across the driveway or sidewalks. Pets, etc.
Actually, this sounds like a pretty good gig. Could always have a flashlight or head lamp to see better. Not everyone leaves their porch light on.
