Agree. Too old to learn, or too old to WANT to learn? I find the older I get the more capable i am of learning and the faster I can do it. I think those habits and desires may develop when we are very young children. Good habits however, can be developed at any age if a person has the will and desire. Add curiosity and discovery and don't get in the way of ourself by thinking we're too old and watch the magic spin.
I have recently been getting acquanted with automotive anti-theft technology for personal interest. In an hour and a half each day the last two days I adequately acquanted myself with CAN bus, ECUs, ECMs, TCMs, PCMs, Arduino bitshifts, read ISO standards and white papers by PHDs to talk myself into an entry job requiring that sort of knowledge if needed, and maybe teach a thing or two. I try to learn to teach. Read that again and let it sink.
It's a far cry from what I do now or have ever done, but it's very typical of me to spend time learning brand new and challenging things. We have the benefit being older of knowing how to learn, how to speed past the basics, how to sift quickly for the gold, and build new knowledge on previous knowledge and experience.
Educating oneself is a continuous lifetime process done for want of self-improvement and self-satisfaction not just to get a job. Getting a job is just the beginning of a whole new list of things and people to learn even if you hit the ground running.
