Sadly, I think that's always been the MO of XYZ. Looks like they're also promoting their online listing for folks looking for notaries - in my area, at least - although it's possible that's been going on for a long time and I just haven't checked. I usually look for 'mobile' notaries when checking online listings and this time I just checked for 'notaries near me'.
I wouldn't blame them (they ARE a for-profit business enterprise, after all), if it wasn't for the fact that they promote themselves as trying to help notaries, even masquerading as non-profit by hiding behind a ".org" URL as their primary site for most things. (In fairness, they do have some separate sites using a ".com", as most know, but those seem to me to be less public-facing.) |
