Depending on your state, for example, the CT Secy of State has a FREE public site where people can search for a Notary Public. Having dealt with various agencies, Town Clerks, senior and community center staff, library staff, local real estate offices, and many others IF ASKED will give the name and contact information of one or more notaries.
Of course, if someone is lazy and doesn't want to bother to do a little face-to-face marketing or networking, put it on your credit card and sit back and wait for customers to race to call you. At a maximum of $5 per notarization, the expense doesn't fit my business model. Particularly when the local senior centers, community centers, libraries, and Town Clerks (all within 10 miles of my home) offer FREE general notarizations. LOL even when it was $2 (not that long ago) most callers were "that much?" and decided to go to the free notarization. LOL paying the maximum 35 cents per mile for my travel to them was also too expensive. |
