| I have just gotten a call from them. They are claiming to be able to eliminate my credit card debt through a violation that Capital One has made in accordance with the Fair Credit Law, and even more specific the Debt Violation. I have been searching up and down on BBB and they have also been connected through business names Debt Elimination Advisers (which this website is suspended) And Consumer Finance Solutions. The customer service number they give me is what is listed on the BBB, but when I called to get the "Corporate" office, they gave me an address out of Massachusetts, which on the BBB it is listed through Florida. They want to get my card number, and are telling me to make 3 more monthly payments to the account, and then they will charge their "retainer fee" to the card to the tune of $5,000. Of course I didn't do this, and told them to e-mail me the contract so I could look it over and then I would consider afterwards, but they said that was not possible because the contracts are "time sensitive" Now, what is really goofy, the initial call came through my cell phone and it was a Local number to my area (Northern Michigan) and then I was routed to a number that is in Louisiana and I cannot call that number because it is not a working number, but when they call that number continues to show up. I have contacted Capital one, the BBB, and AT&T due to the fact that the number that initially showed up was a local AT&T cell number and nobody has heard of this scam. So I guess my question is, what verbiage is in this Fair Credit Law that could create a loophole where these "mega banks" are in some violation. Goot Financial is telling me it is related to the inflated interest rate on the card, and that since my payment history is perfect I am qualified to receive this service. I find it odd they want my card number and want to bill 5K. Obviously, i feel like they would get the 5K and Id be screwed. Anybody else getting anything? |
