Break-even is term used in the bond market. Inflation

is out of control. Wages have gone up substantially to keep up with the pace of inflation ( gas, food, housing costs, etc). In 2015, I earned about $75-$80 ( Old Republic Title comes to mind) for a 12- 14 page package.. In order for me to earn the same inflation adjusted profit in June of 2022, I would need to charge $115 to keep pace with inflation.

I would potentially accept a $115 HELOC assignment with minimal travel.

I had one person PM me that the fees for a HELOC are about $50 with countless notaries willing to take that assignment. I don’t know if that $50 figure is correct. Others, please post your current experience with HELOC fees.

It is probably another journey to the bottom with countless notaries willing to accept sub-standard fees. Inflation is a killer. Perhaps it will finally force $50 notaries to get a legitimate job.
