 Re: CA Acknowledgment- Pronouns
Posted by  Expeditor on 10/7/22 11:46am

Not circling the pronouns seems to be perfectly fine for the clerks at the county recorder's office. The clerks at the Secretary of State authenticate the notary commission and review the acknowledgments and jurats for errors. Not circling the pronouns and crossing out the (s) is considered an incomplete certificate and a violation of government code 8214.1 (j), punishable by a civil penalty of $750. The rejection is usually accompanied by a stern letter from the SOS. I learned this through trial and error. I even had a jurat rejected for not crossing out the (s) on person (s).
