CA has 162,000 notaries for approx. 40 million people

Florida has almost 500,000 notaries for a population of 18 million and Texas has 430,000 notaries for a population of 25 million.
My point is the reason we can command our high fees in CA is we don't have the competition that other states deal with.
Next door Arizona has 70,000 notaries for a population of 7 million

The reason the total number of CA notaries has not increased in the last 8 years is the expense and hoops & bells we have to go through to get our commission! Proctored test, surety bond/etc

I work with local title, escrow, lenders locally because they don't have a notary in their office.
