They wouldn't "recover" much from me on general notarizations, as fortunately my charges for "actual travel" have been most reasonable . . . , considering. It takes more than fuel to get my car to remain on the road.
But this is something to pay close attention to. A rehab facility I was called to fairly often in the past had a list of available notaries - and I got called first because others' fees were too high. At the time I lived not too far from the center; but after moving I'd still get calls and have to explain that I was only in the area occasionally and could come out with suitable notice (then go visit family nearby!). My travel fee was something like $25-$35 . . . and oh, the stories I'd hear!
I also find it interesting the DATE of the lawsuit posting. The start of the Pandemic - and Notaries, as we know have been in high demand. Hopefully, we don't have to revisit the "exploitation" discussion.
A frantic will-signer reached me by phone the other day and was pretty frustrated at having to secure the services of a notary public. I told him I felt his pain and I was not taking calls in general, But let him know I would consider meeting him in public. Of course, there was the matter of witnesses (another stick in his craw); it is complicated all way 'round right now. And get me out close to Inauguration! What am I, Wonder Woman???!!!
