Re: Florida has a specific form when acknowledging the signature

Yes, I tell them that I must notarize per my state's laws. I usually give them two options:

1) I modify their certificate to include the information required by Florida laws (physically present vs. online, method of identification used) and crossing through the "pentalties of perjury" language
2) I cross through the entire certificate and note "See attached Florida compliant certificate" and attach my own certificate.

Most choose the 2nd option.

I am convinced that many of the TC personnel are just used to seeing the CA certificates and do not want to take a chance on the county recorder's office rejecting it.

On the other hand, someone (I can't remember who) told me once that the LA county recorder would reject out of state certificates if those certificates had not been completed per the state laws where it had been executed. Apparently the LA county recorder's office is familiar with other states' requirements and are sticklers for compliance. So if a TC succeeded in bullying a Florida notary to use a CA acknowledgement as is, that would backfire on them since LA county would reject it.

Bottom line, know YOUR state's laws and abide by them at all times.
