I am 65 but NOT 65 1/2 until the 18th of February. Since I am single I had to back off closings during 2005 so I wouldn't "make too much money". On the 29th of February, I can make as much as I want and not have to worry about "paying back" what I received from SS. According to the IRS booklet that comes with the 1040, look to the part that discusses SS. I can make up to $25,000 before I have to pay anything back - that is, before I turn 65 1/2. You would think that the government would be happy that us ole folks are still out there able to work instead of taxing us while we are trying to scratch out a living. JMPO.
