message number 91601 . There is a general frustration among long time notaries concerning those who go through one of the schools, get their commission and then think that they are going to make 50 to 100k per year with little or no work. Then they look to this board and expect those who have spent years to build their business to give away their customers and their marketing ideas to them.

The best way to do it is to search a couple of notary boards for "getting started". There will be a lot of info there. If you went to the right loan signing class, then you will be armed with marketing ideas and will have no illusions on how difficult it is right now to build a loan signing business. Go to the library or a bookstore and read up on how to write a business plan.

We were all newbies at one time or another. But what separates the adults from the kids is the will to do your own research and work your own business and not rely on everyone else to carry them along. It takes work.

I have shown a few wanna-be's my setup for printing docs, mobile office and marketing ideas and the response I get most of the time lately has been "I don't want to do that much work"

I personally don't mind giving suggestions to those who are willing to work and not have me hand them my business. What frustrates me is those who expect to make $$ without putting in the effort. They are looking for easy money. I won't help those who, by the tone in their posts, sound like they are looking or expect easy money.
Where do you fit in. Do you want to do the work, or do you expect someone to do it for you? Did you expect to have SS's, TC's or loan companies call you without any marketing at all? It sounds like you are a frustrated person who believed the marketing hype from the NNA and expected the money to just fall from the sky.

Pardon any typos. It's been a long day. In addition to my normal work, I fixed two signings done by notaries who had their heads in flakey positions. Just got in.
