In CA. the NP is responsible to insure who is signing a document, is the listed signatory. I do a POA almost daily due to the area, and the number of health care and rehabilitation facilities (medical and substance) Where practical I request 2 forms of ID and then there is a casual Q&A conversation to get the feel... Liability will always go to the lowest common denominator (Notary Public),,, then the fight goes up the ladder. *** IF you are not familiar with POAs and their power DON'T TAKE the assignment.**
