Critters I can handle, and truthfully, always wanted a pet rat as they are very intelligent and clean creatures (the domesticated ones AND so smart the military trains them to sniff explosives and bombs). I had a pet mouse for 10 years, so that doesn't phase me! In any event, it wasn't appropriate by any means and you had every right to say something. I did do a closing in a mechanics garage and a wild rat ran over the papers, that I did jump for as was unexpected.
For myself, I like animals of all kinds, what I can't tolerate is smoking and smells.
I go with the flow...I'd probably be holding him after the closing!
