I truly love the pets even more so than most signers, lol, and the best part of my job! I even have cats bring me toys and drop at my feet, and owners are shocked. I find if you go in and greet the pets first after owner's handshake, bend down and give them 10 seconds of your attention, none of that rarely happens. If they are nippy, just totally ignore them and they will come around to being your new BFF. I never have had one be rude, slobber on me, hump a leg, although many dogs do have a fixation of their head in my work bag looking for something to eat or head on my lap. Most of the time, I ring the bell and I hear the dogs barking and hear owners scrambling to lock them up, so I announce I am dog freindly, it's okay. I find when they do lock the dogs up you have 20 minutes of barking. Either way I am fine, but if I had my way, bring on the pets! (I used to volunteer at a shelter) I had a closing last week and the owner had 2 pugs crossed with mini pinchers...the head of the pug and the body of the pincher...So cute! A lint brush in the car also works! |
