I switched from Mercury to State Farm a good while back, then to AAA a couple of years ago, and I believe saved a couple hundred $/yr. I went into a AAA office and talked to someone in person. He asked lots of questions about stuff that might make me eligible for additional discounts (I also have a clean record, etc.), including memberships to certain types of organizations. I qualified for one (at his suggestion) by joining my university alumni association - just by making a one-time donation that paid for itself the first year. I never would have thought about that on my own or if I applied online.
I've also heard good things about AAA service for claims, etc. [My cousin has used them for decades.] I also like the idea that it's one of the few places where you can still talk to a human being, face to face...  |
