My penny LOL. If they're trying to save shipping costs, it ain't gonna work and may cost more in the long run.
You can stuff as much as you want into one of those "use this size envelope." BUT if the WEIGHT is over what the envelope is designed for, FedEx (and UPS) will charge more based on the weight. I remember the old days of "you must use the enclosed letter size return envelope" and I was returning 100 pages of legal size paper.
Every firm I work with uses plastic envelopes: more durable (safer) and document sets fit without folding, "stuffing" and risk of package breaking open or, as said, getting wet or damaged. Not even weather, something also being shipped could leak onto package. We deal with the extra cost to preserve the "pristine" quality of our documents, particularly when we all have to copy and scan the originals. Documents that haven't been folded or stuffed can be run through the feeder without incident; you risk a jam and an original being torn, mangled or even destroyed if the 4 corners aren't in good condition. |
