I had a roommate from Taiwan in college. He had a formal Chinese name, but also had a European-style first name he used on English-language documents. On anything that was important, not only did he sign, he applied his chop (a wooden block with Chinese characters, used like a rubber stamp, with red ink). I wasn't a notary then and if he ever got anything notarized, I didn't hear about it. |
