Re: Subpoenaed for a QC notarization 5 years ago :)
Posted by Cori Lentine on 6/17/21 5:47pm

I was subpoenaed in April for a notarization I did two years ago. The borrower said he never signed the loan documents and wasn't repaying the loan. The lenders attorney contacted me and was trying to prove that he signed the documents. This was my first subpoena in my 20 years as a notary. I was nervous and contacted my E&O insurance. They provided me with legal representation which was covered by my insurance. I requested representation not because I thought I was at fault, but for my piece of mind. I provided my notary journal line with thumbprint to my attorney who then shared it with the lenders attorney. The deposition was on zoom and lasted 90 minutes. I haven't heard anything since but my attorney said she didn't believe I'd be called to trial.
