 TAX REFUND ERROR HELP
Posted by Garrett Goff on 9/16/22 1:07am

Hi Guys!

So, im a new notary public (ssince june 2021) as I had to take a break from being a RN.. any how I know nothing about Taxes or wage witholding as I did start a LLC but im a sole proprietor (for the 3-4 notarizations I did perform , to my understanding, notary fees (colorado is 10$ MAX) and so I dont know if i made a mistake or whats going on as Im getting these messages (see below) from the states div. Of revenue taxation. And also arent notaries exempt from taxes ? The minute I created this account for Wage Witholding its so confusing as to keep it short I was ivolved in a 18 wheeler wreck on my way home work as an RN and had a brain injury and desperately was looking for alternnative jobs. At the time things were not going as planned hints why i only have 3 notarizations..I actually lost so much more money from parents loaning money to start up website, fees, start up, marketing etc . So I included that “loan/gift” to get my LLC up and running on the witholding form just for that specific period (even tho the 632$ was way more due to myparents helping me get back to some sort of work and included Ad fees, SEO consultant etc.. which failed and im still on disability for and Im just so confused as what I did wrong and how to remedy it. (Message below) THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANYONES TIPS, ADVICE, HELP, INPUTS, etc as this has been a journey….
The Colorado Department of Revenue has received your Withholding refund request. Your request for a
refund of $632.00 for the period ending 12/31/2021 has been denied for the following reason(s):
• Missing an explanation of how payments totaling $632.00 were calculated if the withholding was $0.00.
• Our records show that the total 2021 wage withholding payments made on this account were $0.00 rather than the $595.00 reported on your 2021 DR 1093 - Annual Transmittal of W-2 Forms. Therefore, no overpayment credit is available and a balance of $595.00 plus penalty and interest for the tax underpayment is owed.
If you do not agree with the adjustment(s) to the requested refund, you must protest this letter. Protest and/or hearing request must be filed within 30 days from the date of this letter in writing. If the 30-day period ends on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the protest will be due on the following business
day.
