I wouldn't be surprised if RON takes over the refinance business, whether it's independent RON notaries being assigned through signing services, or RON notaries employed by title companies.

But if the RON notaries are getting all the low-hanging fruit, there won't be enough left for full time mobile notaries to stay in business, except perhaps in large cities. I've already decided that the sharp practices by the signing services make a mobile notary career not feasible in my area.

Leaving aside how this affects the members of this forum, how does it affect the public? Purchases financed by an out-of-state lender and services from an out-of-state title company in a table funding state? That's beyond the skill or patience of a UPS notary or a town clerk. The parties are just going to have to hire lawyers (which they should be doing anyway) and one of the party's lawyer, or a legal secretary, can act as the notary.

(I mention table-funding state because it would be tough to handle some things in a RON session, such as immediate delivery of cashier's checks, verification that funds had been wired, physically handing over the keys to the house, or physically handing over a deed in a form that can be recorded in the land records office.)

Nursing home and invalid notarizations? Hope they have a friend who is a notary. Same goes for teenagers and foreign visitors.
