If past is prologue, the next wave is probably going to be a ton of those laid off folks deciding to jump into the notary business - as if the slowdown in lending doesn't affect us.  This time, though, the job market is ripe (outside of the loan business), so they might be wise to move into something else. Many of us recall that we were in a recession the last time we saw major layoffs, and jobs were scarce. I hope this time, the laid off are smarter...
I have to say, though, I've been pretty busy lately. Some of that is summer activity rising, plus non-real estate related business. For example, I got a call yesterday from an attorney who said he found my business card on a bulletin board in his office. Surprised the heck out of me. It must have been one I dropped off at a front desk when I was there to see someone else. Ya just never know... |
