I've had excellent luck buying refurbished HP printers from ebay or Amazon. I've only bought from sellers that are very highly rated with lots and lots of reviews, and I try to find one that's as close to me as possible, so it doesn't have to be shipped cross country.

HP work group printers, like the ones Jose listed, are designed for the kind of volume we do. After our vehicle (and maybe cell phone), the business tool we use the most is a printer. I don't think that's the place to cut corners. (But there's no way I would invest in a brand new one from HP - especially these days.)
