I received text message from an 844 number last week, asking if I was available for a signing in the next town, paying $75. I said yes and received the signer information and a message to only go once I have had confirmation from signer, which I got immediately.
Everything went as expected. I was told the signer would pay the $75, which he did, in cash. I was happy, the signer was happy, the family was happy. I acknowledged that I had completed the assignment, but never heard back from the company. The family told me the name of the Title Company they were working with, but that was not who sent the request.
I decided to add the signing to my profile for record keeping purposes, and searched the 844 number, and found that it belongs to Live Notaries, LLC. What I don't understand is all the negative comments that I have read about this company since.
It's possible that in the past, this company was slow paying and low paying, but they seem to have changed the business practice to have the signer pay the notary and get their income in another way. I had a good experience and was paid well, so I cannot add to the list of "horrors" that I have read here and elsewhere about this company. |
