Taking the temperature of a borrower is insane. How would a medically untrained notary even determine if a borrower has a fever or not? Not every person with COVID-19 has a fever, and not every person with a fever has COVID-19. What if a borrower has been sitting out in the hot sun and the thermometer registers what the notary deems a fever? Notary says I can't do your closing because you are sick, notary calls title and says borrower is sick, no other notary wants to go to do the closing and borrower is unable to close loan that day and loan falls through. Notary better have their E&O up to date because I can guarantee you an attorney is coming after them.
I think anyone who feels the need to check the temperature of a borrower, or have the borrowers check their own temperatures before entering their home, needs to stay at home until the pandemic is over. |
