"collections work is booming."
My DIL does collections and she is having problems getting people to pay. Runs into a lot of RE agents, LO's, and other relateds to this business who have not "put aside for a rainy day" or have depleted their rainy day accounts and can pay nothing now. Since unemployment is on the rise, people are trying to keep their heads above water and just don't have the resources to worry about the past. Bonuses for her are harder to reach these days.
It is hard work, nasty work, frought with regulations, laws and caveats that must be met with each and every call, each and every time. You think you don't feel sorry for some of those we come into contact with? Homeowners about to lose to foreclosure? Stupidity in over-borrowing, over-stating, etc? Collections has an underbelly that infuriates beyond reason (JMHO), yet someone has to do it. Thank God I don't have to do this work; ours is a cake walk by comparison. |
