I was pretty close to Carmen so I will just say that we shared a lot over the years. She understood what I went through when cancer came this close to taking my life almost 4 years ago. 6 months after getting massive chemo to destroy all of my cancerous bone marrow, then receiving a life-saving transplant, and in a slow-slow recovery, her boss called me and insisted on testing me. You all know the call. I failed and was given another try and failed again. A day later my exceptional certification was removed even though I had created some of the questions on the test. Up until less than a month ago, he had no clue she was gravely ill. So you know, Carmen was diagnosed a year ago with pancreatic cancer and was terrified of what lay ahead. She was one of the good ones. I truly loved that woman and I am deeply saddened. |
