I hear you on that! It's crazy to pay someone a fee just so you can pay them. I went on line to pay a bill for my wife, I had an option of paying with my debit card over the phone. I started to do that until I found they had a $9.95 "service" fee to do that. No way Jose!
But back to the matter at hand, no one should pay anyone to be in a database. And certainly for Calif notaries, there is no reason to pay for a background check. Our state check for our commissions goes all the way to the FBI database, that's far more than what they do for the $30.00 that they want. BS big time!
