Hi Kids - thought I'd post an excerpt from the reply I received from Kathy at The Signing Registry. My question to her was regarding a borrower who suddenly signed in nice cursive on the DOT after signing the rest of the package in chicken scratch.
"When borrowers sign with "chicken scratch", upside down, right side up, whatever - as long as you have witnessed the signature and recorded it as such, you have fulfilled your notarial duties. Also - don't say anything when they come to the DOT; if you point out to them that they should "be careful" or whatever, it makes them nervous (sounds silly, but true) and their signature may change somewhat from the way they have been naturally signing the other docs. "
GOOD ADVICE for the novices - myself included!
