I am in WA.

I can leave the certificate unchanged if I could identify the signatory, from the witness stand, based on personal knowledge of them. If I cannot do that, I must change the "known" to "proven" or "satisfactorily proven" - either is acceptable. When they simplified our certificates to be compatible with many other States, they did not change the requirement for personal knowledge of the signatory when using the word "known".
