| Growing up, our neighbor had polio. He was a couple years older than me. He had big clunky shoes and wore leg braces. He never used crutches or canes. He rode bikes with us, although we used to have to help him get on snd off. I don’t know if he had spent time in an iron lung. We were never allowed to feel sorry for him. |
