Good luck finding a Real Estate closing in New York without a lawyer involved

New York technically does not require an attorney to conduct real estate closings. Any seller or buyer can represent her or himself at closing. However, the practice of having an attorney present is both customary and legally advisable in the state of New York. New York laws are particular about real estate brokers that may be in legal violation related to the Unauthorized Practice of Law (UPL).
