The two dates that you fill in on the RTC are the transaction date and the cancel no later than date. The doc reads as follows:
You are enterint into a transaction that will result in a mortgage/lien.security interest on your home. You have a legal right under federal law to cancel this transaction, without cost, within THREE BUSINESS DAYS from whichever of the following events occur last:
1) The date of the transaction, which is _____________ (enter todays date, the date Mr. B signed)
2) The date you recieved your Truth in Lending disclosures; or
3) The date you received this notice of your right to cancel.

I remember that something similar to this was discussed a while back. The transaction date is the date that you did the signing. Then you fill in the cancel by date which is 3 business days from the transaction date (you know the holiday and sundays rule). Docs can have an effective date on them. So having the borrower sign the DOT on the 8th since that was the date and notarizing the 8th since it was the 8th is not a problem. If you search the words Wells Fargo and dates you'll find the thread.

Now in myl experience the only time there was a problem was when I went out on a piggyback last minute docs. When the docs were drawn there was a glitch in the docs system that printed the date on the 2nd for the date after the 1st. I was told that they had to be the same date and since it was thier computer error they sent me out again and paid me in full for both trips.
