"And the POTUS can be impeached for misdemeanors? Just ask Auntie Maxine Waters, because that's all she's got and wants to impeach Trump."
POTUS and all other public officials can be impeached for "high crimes and misdemeanors". Do you know the meaning and history of that phrase? It was borrowed from the British, and it refers to malfeasance in office, not necessarily actual crimes. Abuse of office qualifies, even if no actual crime is committed. So does an attempt to obstruct justice. Impeachment is a political process, not a criminal process or civil process - it doesn't require that the official actually committed a crime and there's no standard of proof, such as reasonable doubt or preponderance of the evidence. What it says is that the official acted in a way that betrayed his or her oath of office. That charge then has to be proven at trial, but again that's a political process where there's no standard of proof.
"Misdemeanor's are crimes, and ergo all illegal aliens are criminals. Therefore, 100% of all illegal's are criminals. So, tell me once again how US citizens commit more crimes than illegal aliens, when their crime rate is 100%."
We both know that's a ridiculous argument. |
