I've thought it through more than you have, apparently. No one ever said there would be fewer cops; as usual, you just made something up.
Second, you don't send a marriage counselor or any other professional - including firefighters and EMTs - into a violent situation. An incidence of actual domestic violence requires police to defuse the situation, arresting the offending spouse if necessary. But they're not there to fix the underlying problem. Ideally, the professional would arrive with the police but remain a safe distance away until the scene is cleared and they can step in and do their part of the job - which can include counseling the other spouse, learning the history, and possibly transporting her/him to a safe-house.
But now you're making up hypotheticals and patting yourself on the back, thinking you've proved some sort of point. All you seem to be able to think about when you hear "defund" is eliminating police jobs. |
