I couldn't believe he didn't get it - what an impact that will have on employment numbers....
Any employer paying minimum wage now at whatever the particular state mandates (here in FL $8.46/hour with an increase to $8.56/hour on 1/1/2021) - if that employer has to jack an employee's pay to $15/hour, you can be sure that for every one employee that gets that raise, two will be laid off and, if in retail, prices will go up. But people don't get the employer tax ramifications of doing that.
I can tell you, though, here in my area there was an opening for a police dispatcher starting at $27,800/year (more or less) - averages out to $13 and change per hour - that's still sickening pay, |
