"Gelernt said some of the families that have been contacted have elected to keep their children in the U.S. with family members or sponsors "due to fear of what will happen to their child if they return" to their home countries."
Exactly. Some countries, nationalities, do not think of their children as we do in the USA. In China and India for example, many baby girls are murdered at birth, or left to die. They are a burden to families. Some are not even named until they turn 1. We in the west do think differently, but some parents is some countries will give up their kids because they cannot take care of them and know that at least here, they will be. They are a burden to them holding them back. It's is sad, but take the emotion out of it, and probably those kids are better off than going to parents who cannot take care of them, do not want them or provide for them. jmo |
