You need to do some basic research and understand what the debt limit is - it has NOTHING to do with increasing our debt or borrowing more money NOW. It is ONLY about paying for the debt we already incurred - stuff we paid for and we now owe.
If you want to talk about limiting what we spend NOW, that's a different conversation altogether. What we spend NOW does not impact the debt limit. The debt limit ONLY applies to money that was already spent.
Going back to the credit card example - if you decided TODAY not to use your credit card ever again - cut it up and flush the pieces down the toilet bowel - it would not have ANY effect on what you owe. You still owe that money you spent last month and the months before, and you have to get the money to pay that bill anyway you can. If it requires taking on more debt to pay the bill, you have to do that, because the bill HAS to be paid. NOT paying it will ruin you financially.
You're fixated on Biden, but what Biden wants to do NOW has nothing to do with the current debt limit and what Trump did over the past 4 years that we now have to pay for. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE GOP, OR FOX, OR NEWSMAX, OR OANN - take the time to read up and understand what the debt limit actually is, why it's a bad thing, and how not raising it will affect our economy. |
