Barbados left the Commonwealth last year - Charles (then Prince Charles) attended the ceremony. Jamaica is probably the next to leave, although I doubt they will invite King Charles - they HATE the monarchy.

The Commonwealth nations are already self-governing - the Monarch is the "head of state" but has no power over them - it's really just symbolic. Citizens of the Commonwealth nations are not British subjects or citizens, so they have no additional rights or privileges - they don't get a British passport, for instance. The original idea was that the Commonwealth would work together to promote democracy and work towards common goals, but it may have outlasted its usefulness and that's why nations are looking to leave it. With Elizabeth gone, there's not much left to hold it together..
