During these bitter cold wintry days, I eat a lot of soups. My fav is chicken soup. Aside from the usual ingredients of celery, mushrooms, onion, garlic, carrots, and small red potatoes, I add hot jalapeno pepper sliced thinly, curry, turmeric, and ginger. It's very healthy and calming. Helps me sleep more deeply after a long, hard day. I build on the soup which I make in my slow cooker, and this morning I sliced up yellow and green zucchini and added pearl barley.
