It's been pretty good for me, but I don't think I've ever used any other carrier because of discounts I've been able to get (plus I heard that other carriers don't do well in my home area, so I'm afraid to take a chance). I can't remember the last time I was somewhere that I couldn't get a signal, although a couple of times it hasn't been great. Those have all been in places where I was told they had a tough time getting any carrier's signal.
I'm currently on their plan that's $50/mo for seniors with unlimited everything. Lately, though, it seems like the data has been aa little slow, but I've never connected it to wifi for security reasons. I don't even connect to my own wifi at home because to do so, I'd have to un-hide it from all other devices that might be searching for a wifi signal. Too much of a pain to switch it back and forth, and I've gotten along fine using the 4G connection on my phone.
Other network options that I've looked at in the past only had better deals for more than one line. As for customer service, whenever I've had any issues (mostly phone related vs. network), I go in person to a T-Mobile store and talk to a live person. I've had pretty good luck finding folks who really know their stuff - but not always the first time...
