"Today in between races I am heading to Sonoma which is close to the track and tonight we are having dinner at a winery."
No, you're having wine at a winery - the dinner is just there to help keep you sober...
I envy you - would love to visit CA wine country. When I lived in NY, I would often go out to the wineries on the east end of Long Island - someone figured out years ago that the climate on that part of Long Island was the same as the climate in the wine-growing regions of France. So the grapes were good, the local winemakers learned their craft, and eventually, they started producing very good wine.
Then I moved to Texas and serendipitously ended up in a town called Grapevine. No joke, that's the name of the town I live in, and every year (pre-Covid) we have a festival called Grapefest, where vendors from across the state come to showcase their wares, and much wine is consumed. We had one working vineyard here (it may be gone now), at least one working winery, and a bunch of wine shops along our Main Street. I am not a wine snob, but the one word I would use to describe Texas wines is: No. If I could use two words, they would be: Damn No... |
