Just saw a news story about squatters' rights in Georgia. Apparently the law is very vague and there appears to be some major problems because of this. One story was a family went on vacation. When they returned they found that another family had moved in. The police were called but the homeowners were told that it was a civil, not criminal case. The squatters reported that they found the home on Craig's List and were scammed as well. Supposedly the scammers had keys and a lease but you would think that once the squatters entered the home and found clothes in the closets and food in the refrigerator they would know they were wronged.
Apparently legislators are trying to amend that law. |
