"Soliciting opposition research from a foreign entity, or even discussing how to obtain it, may be considered an illegal campaign contribution." Possibly, however, that is NOT what he plead guilty to.
In the doc you provided, Mike, look at:
Section I -- OVERVIEW 1) He is ONLY admitting (i.e. pleading guilty to) to the fact that he "made material false statements and material omissions during an interview with the Federal Bureau of Investigation ("FBI") that took place on January 27, 2017..."
Section I -- OVERVIEW; 2) (and all subsections of #2) only detail the false statements & omissions he made.
Section II -- Timeline of Selected Events (and all subsections) detail the supporting information of why his statements were deemed to be "materially false". These listed actions and/or events are not charges or even alleged illegal activities that he is admitting to; he is admitting that the descriptions of those events are true, which made his interview statements "materially false".
Section III (pg 9) specifically details the specific statements he made that were materially false
Section IV (pg 12) List actions he took in an effort to apparently cover up his false statements |
