Chicago has a bad rap as well for all the crime and things going on there, as Detroit has/had. It's very cold, and really doesn't have too much to entice people to live there compared to other places. What I have found however, that when there were a lot of bank owned properties in FL, I was really busy. Investors buy them up, and not use local title companies. Hope that they clean up Chicago, use some good PR and make it so there are opportunities and people will buy. I grew up in northern WI, and nothing ever moved up there, good or bad economies. No such thing as a starter home or investment property. They bought their house and lived there until the end, and then pass it down to the kids. I hope things get better for that area.
