COLLECTION AGENCY: (FEE BASED) Rates may vary per Agency. Collection Agency may charge a Flat Fee or on contingency, meaning a percentage (%) of debt collected. The average rates charged by collection agencies are between 25% - 50%, depending, on how old the debt maybe. Read the fine print! Example: Total outstanding collectable debt is $100. Let’s say the collection agency charges you 35% on contingency. You would receive $65 of the total amount collected. If the agency collects only $60 of the total $100 debt, you would receive $25.
SMALL CLAIMS COURT: (FEE BASED) Not all States allow out-of-state small claims. Check your State or County regulations. Estimates only depending on your State: Amount of claim allowed depending on your State: .01 - $5,000 in some cases $10,000 max. Average cost: $30-$100 If you receive a judgment you ARE responsible for collection of judgment.
