Most of us just get emailed packages and haven't a clue of the title end of things. Since I lived that dream for 6 months as a Settlement Processing Agent, I know how extremely hard it is. It's high pressure, fast paced, got to get it done correctly and constantly changing and multi tasking, and yes, they don't know the answers many times, and it's a lender question. The lender changes something and title has to redo calculations. Happens last minute, even something as adding more down payment, or changing vesting, a typo.... It takes years of experience to know it well. I gave it my best shot, and so happy to be back doing closings only. It's a hard profession and high turnover. Yes, they are new, and yes, it's really hard...cut them some slack. It's sort of rude to say "charge an educational fee" when we as a NSA need absolutely minimal training and expect everything perfect and on time for us. It all works together, and we are the last piece of the puzzle. There is no formal education to become a Settlement Processor, it's a learning on the job experience, and each company is different and uses different software. Trust me, they wish they could push out closings, it's not that simple. |
