I cannot imagine fees going lower than they are now (on average) and credible notaries (those who continuously do a professional job) will take them. I am like you, in the sense that I'm "retired" from my previous profession and don't need NSA work to live on. The self-proclaimed "seasoned pros" here might equate that to being a "hobby" but I take my work quite seriously and pride myself in doing a professional job. Because of that pride (and the fact that I'm used to commanding A LOT more money for my time than NSA work provides), I refuse to lower myself past the point where I can justify doing what I do for the pay that I'm receiving. I've just started my second notary commission and seriously thought that by now I'd be ahead of where I was when I started my first commission four years ago. However, that isn't the case, and at this point, I'm thinking that it's doubtful that I'll be going for a third commission when the time comes in 2022. |
