Technically, you're probably right. However, it's widely accepted here that we only put a signer's name in the notary certificate - even more so since since CA notaries have to sign all acks under penalty of perjury. We're required to have "satisfactory evidence" of the name (which is explained in some detail in our state's Civil Code and has been discussed here at length), but I've never seen verification of a signer's marital status referred to in any way in any official - or unofficial - documents.

I suspect that a notary acknowledgment that included marital status would risk rejection by the County Recorder's office. (Iit's not something I would want to test... Wink)
